Religious and Historic Sites to Visit Around Madinah During Hajj (Part 2)

2. Jabal Uhud

The historic site that you will come across will be the Mount or Jabal Uhad where Muslims had a great battle with Meccans on 3 Shawal 3 AH (19 March 625). Unfortunately, Muslims lost that battle as they breached Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) order. Before the battle of Uhad Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) ordered 50 archers to stand on this mountainside and strictly directed them not to leave their place, no matter whatever the situation maybe.

Holy Prophet (PBUH) specifically placed these archers to obstruct enemy in case they attack from behind. However, when these archers saw Meccans running from the battle field they left their place and started collecting their spoils. This gave Meccans a chance to attack Muslims from behind and turn their defeat into victory. The mistake caused severe causalities and Muslims had to bear severe loss. This defeat at Mount Uhad gave Muslims a great lesson that they should never disobey Allah.

Precious Words From The Holy Quran

The Holy Quran is a ray of light for every human being who wants to succeed in this and next world, as it is complete code of life. Every generation has discovered a new source of inspiration, courage and strength in this book. Also, it has guided people in the turbulent times of their lives by explaining itself. For instance, when someone feels that no one understands, “I am his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes and his foot with which he walks,” says Allah – Bukhari.

The holy book also revives our faith in one creator because when we feel that there is no one to help us, Allah tells us through Quran that “I will help you with a thousand Angels each behind the other in succession.” – Surah al-Anfal : 8-9. Similarly when you feel that everyone has abandoned you, Allah says that “Fear not: for I am with you: I hear and see (everything).” – Qur’an 20 : 46. Our faith in Almighty also boosts when Allah says to people, who have lost hope due to hardships that “Verily, the help of Allaah is (always) near!” – Qur’an 2 : 214.
