264,000 more pilgrims from abroad this year

264,000 more pilgrims from abroad this year

THE number of foreign pilgrims performing Haj this year would be highest in history, according to sources at the Ministry of Haj and Umrah. Saudi authorities have made flawless and elaborate arrangements to receive the largest number of pilgrims in the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah and to ensure a hassle-free Haj. So far nearly one million foreign pilgrims have arrived in the Kingdom.

The number of foreign pilgrims last year was 13,25,372. However, this year, there will be an increase of about 264,000 pilgrims reaching a total of around 1.6 million. Most of them have started flocking the holy land from all over the world. This was made possible following Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman’s directive to lift the 20 percent cut in the quota of foreign pilgrims and 50 percent cut in the number of domestic pilgrims. The quota cut was enforced in 2012 due to the massive expansion works of mataf (circumambulation area around the Holy Kaaba) and the Grand Mosque.

As of Thursday, a total of 916,562 pilgrims have arrived in the Kingdom, an increase of 165,013 (22 percent) comparing with the same period last year. According to a statistical report of the General Directorate of Passports, the number of pilgrims who arrived by air reached 878,567, while the number of pilgrims who arrived by land and sea account for 35,023 and 2,972 respectively. Of these pilgrims, 607,715 reached Madinah to visit the Prophet’s Mosque and spend a few days in the holy city before setting out for Makkah.

Meanwhile, more than a million pilgrims and visitors offered Friday prayers at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah. In his Friday sermon, Sheikh Faisal Bin Jameel Ghazzawi, imam and khateeb of the Grand Mosque, urged the pilgrims to engage in supplications and spiritual preparations in anticipation of their life-time journey which is around the corner.

The imam specially spoke about the virtues of the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, asking pilgrims to take full advantage of them well before moving to the holy sites to perform the Haj rituals. “Haj is the greatest of all worships that make the believer much closer to Almighty Allah and there should not be any laxity and delay in utilizing the opportunity of performing this fifth pillar of Islam,” he said.

Sheikh Ali Al-Hudaifi, imam and khateeb of the Prophet’s Mosque, cited in his sermon a myriad benefits — both spiritual and material — a Muslim obtains by performing Haj. “Nobody except Almighty Allah can calculate the rewards and benefits of Haj. In the event of an acceptable Haj, Allah will safeguard a Muslim from the machinations of Satan during the rest of his life,” he said while urging pilgrims to be cautious to win the pleasure of God through respecting the Signs of Allah in the holy city as well as performing the rituals earnestly and not spoiling their rituals with involvement in worldly affairs.

Meanwhile, Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance Sheikh Saleh Al-Asheikh launched the ministry’s media programs to educate pilgrims during the current Haj season. He said the plan included distribution of millions of publications, books, CDs, films and dawa mass media material in 32 international languages. “Around 100 satellite channels are taking part in educating pilgrims through the dissemination of films and programs produced by the ministry. The plan also reflects the Kingdom’s efforts in serving the pilgrims,” the minister said.

Importance Of Different Cities During Hajj And Umrah | British haj travel

Hajj And Umrah

Importance Of Different Cities During Hajj And Umrah | British haj travel

Importance Of Different Cities During Hajj And Umrah Each year millions of people travel from east and west to the Holy cities of Saudi Arabia in order to perform the most religious obligations of Islam. People tend to travel in the form of groups.

Often people travelling from the Western lands go to the Holy city Makkah first to perform Umrah and then they would travel to Madinah and would come back again. There are some groups who first travel to Madinah as well.

You don’t have to get worried about Ihram when landing in Jeddah if you are travelling with one of those groups who are going to Madinah because you are not getting entered in Makkah. This is the most preferable method of many pilgrims because then they don’t have to face the trouble of entering in Ihram when they are on plane.

Outside the Holy city, Madinah, there is a place called Dhu’l-$ulayfah and every single driver of bus and taxi stops at Dhu’l-$ulayfah and informs you that it is a particular place of gettinginto Ihram.

Because people are travelling from all over the world, availing any kind of package like Hajj Packages 2017 from Birmingham, England or any other, and often don’t know the places and their names so the drivers are trained enough to inform all the pilgrims so that they don’t face any trouble.

In Dhu’l-$ulayfah, you perform the two rakaat of Namaz, wear your Ihram and then move to the next place. You also say Labbayk when you are in Dhu’l-$ulayfah. It is very important to note one thing that wearing and Ihram and being in the state of Ihram are two completely different things.

You can wear your Ihram but unless you don’t say Labbayk then you would not be in the state of Ihram.

Contrary to this, if you are going to Makkah first then you must wear your Ihram in the plane. People often ask the question that if we are performing Hajj Tamattu in which you have to perform both Umrah and Hajj then is it necessary that you go to Dhu’l-$ulayfah to enter in the state of Ihram and say Labbayk ?

Here the strongest point to be noted is that you might be wearing Ihram when you are coming back to Makkah because you are doing Hajj Tamattu and there is no point of wearing your Ihram again in Dhu’l-$ulayfah because you are in the period of enjoyment and pleasure.

Since the word Tamattu means enjoyment, the purpose of this kind of Hajj is to take pleasure in normal daily routines as well.

VIP Hajj packages: Hajj Pilgrims arrived in saudi arabia

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced that pilgrims have started arriving in the Kingdom via land, air and sea ports. British haj travel offer has been VIP Hajj packages 2017.

On Sunday, 325 pilgrims arrived at King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah on the first Hajj flight from Pakistan, while three other Hajj flights from Pakistan arrived in Madinah with 651 pilgrims on board. More international flights followed.

The ministry began implementing plans adopted by Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mohammed Salih Bentin for this year’s
VIP Hajj packages season, which ensure all services will be provided to pilgrims from the time of their arrival in the Kingdom until departure at the end of their Hajj.

The minister urged all sectors operating under the ministry, religious institutions and the General Syndicate of Cars, to ensure implementation of ministry-approved plans and establish cooperation and coordination between all participating agencies.

The minister also instructed all Hajj service centers in Makkah and Madinah to intensify efforts and facilitate all operations concerning pilgrims. He also advised them to strengthen the role of monitoring committees in the field.

Pilgrims are expected to continue arriving in the Kingdom until the fifth day of Dhul Hijjah, with an expected 950,000 pilgrims arriving via King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah and 750,000 arriving at Prince Mohammed bin Abdul Aziz Airport in Madinah. Around 100,000 pilgrims will arrive by land and sea. Pilgrims from 178 countries are registered for this year’s
VIP Hajj packages season.

Moreover, Umrah travel operators from Riyadh will operate the last Umrah travel on Thursday.

A leading Umrah travel agent in the capital said that in view of the Hajj season, the regular coach service from the Riyadh to Makkah and Madinah will be suspended until the end of the Hajj season with the last run on Thursday. He also said that some travel operators wound up their Umrah operations last week.

The Umrah season reached its peak during the holy month of Ramadan which recorded nearly 3 million pilgrims from abroad and from the Kingdom during a 30-day period.
The regular five-day package to Makkah and Madinah is suspended till the Hajj is over, the agent said.

Hajj 2017 tips and Advice | British haj travel

These are tips and advice for hajj 2017 that can help turn your Hajj experience into a memorable journey. Planning for this journey for Muslims is most important.

Across the globe, millions of Muslims prepare to embark on the sacred pilgrimage of Hajj. Hajj is a fundamental pillar of Islam, hence holding immense significance in the lives of all Muslim believers. Muslims who are physically fit and financially stable are required to perform Hajj at least once in their lifetime.

1.Ask ALLAH

Before you start planning for Hajj, say Bismillah (In the name of ALLAH) and supplicate to ALLAH. This will allow you to ask ALLAH for the time, strength and ability to gather resources for the upcoming Hajj pilgrimage this year. It is only HE that can make anything possible in this universe.

2.Start inquiring about any legal documentation

In order to perform Hajj, a number of legal documents are required. This includes a Visa to travel to Saudi Arabia, valid passport, and any paperwork regarding residency in your country. Legal documentation requires time so it’s best to begin planning early. This can all be done by contacting the Saudi Embassy in your locality or simply by discussing the matter with any travel agent dealing in Hajj Tours.

3.Read about how to perform Hajj

It’s essential to know about Hajj before embarking on this spiritual journey. Various guidebooks, pamphlets, online materials are available for Muslims to read and gain thorough knowledge on how to perform Hajj. This includes knowing about the different rituals, how and when they are performed, as well as things to avoid and things that are recommended for Hajj. Other than this, a handbook of various Duaas (supplications) that are to be read during Hajj should be kept safely to read when required.

4.Keep physically fit

Hajj is a physically demanding journey. Believers are required to walk long distances in heated conditions, as well as run up and down Safaa to Marwa. These are just few examples of the rituals required for Hajj. All Muslims should prepare for Hajj by starting to eat healthy and walk for a minimum of 30 mins each day. A medical checkup should also be performed.

5.Stay in touch with those who have performed Hajj

It’s always great to stay in contact and converse with family and friends who have been on Hajj. Sharing their experiences with you can give you an overview of the journey; rituals performed and added tips for a successful Hajj pilgrimage.

6.Make an important checklist for things to carry

The following items are great to have with you at all times:

• Money in your own currency as well as Saudi Riyals

• Mobile phone

• Extra pair of rubber slippers

• Gloves

• Small water bottle

• Scissors and nail clipper

• Sleeping bag/mat

• Address and contact number of the hotel/ Kafila you are residing in. Emergency contact names and numbers should also be with you at all times.

• Your identification card/ information

• Appropriate clothing for men(Ehram) and women

• Small cloth bag for collecting stones for the ritual of Hajj

Hajj is a beautiful passage that requires careful thought and planning from before. Muslim believers should gain as much knowledge and information about Hajj so they can make the best out of this divine journey.

370,000 Umrah visas issued in 18 days

MAKKAH – The Ministry of Haj and Umrah has issued 370,000 Umrah visas until Friday since the start of the current season on Nov. 1 (Safar 1), according to a senior ministry official.

Isa Rowas, undersecretary for Umrah affairs at the ministry, said this figure posts an increase of 30,000 compared with the same period last year.

A total of 115,000 Umrah pilgrims have so far arrived in Makkah and Madinah. This is more than double of the number of pilgrims who arrived in the same period in 2015 when it stood at 57,000.

Rowas attributed the increase in the number of pilgrims mainly to the excellent facilities and services being extended in the two holy cities.

“There has been a qualitative leap in the operational efficiency in the fields of the pilgrims’ accommodation, transportation and food supply. The ministry has streamlined its monitoring mechanism so as to ensure that the best quality services are being offered to the pilgrims by the concerned agencies and service providers,” he added.

It is anticipated that there would be an increase in the number of Umrah pilgrims in the wake of the completion of the mataf (circumambulation area around the Holy Kaaba) expansion project. The capacity of mataf was increased from 52,000 pilgrims to 130,000 pilgrims per hour after the expansion work, which took three years to complete before the 2016 Haj season. The ministry had started preparations for the Umrah season immediately after this year’s Haj, with the departure of the last Haj flight on Oct. 15.

The ministry unveiled an ambitious plan to receive about 8 million Umrah pilgrims in the new Umrah season.
