Importance of Zakat | The Compulsory Charity in Islam

Zakat is an Arabic word which means “purification”. Allah Almighty mentioned in the Quran: “Take from their wealth so that you might purify and sanctify them” (Quran 9:103). Zakat is the third pillar of Islam and compulsory on every financially stable Muslim that is wealthy enough to afford to it. Zakat is basically the compulsory giving of a pre-set proportion of one’s wealth to charity. All eligible individuals are required to pay an annual percentage of 2.5% of the wealth and property they own as Zakat. Its significance could be realized from the fact that Allah made it a pillar and by making it a pillar, Allah makes almost everyone experience it either as a giver or as a receiver.

Zakat has so much significance that Allah (SWT) combined it with salah on many occasions in the Holy Quran. Zakat is considered as compulsory charity and an obligation for those who have received their wealth from Almighty Allah to respond to those who are less fortunate in society. The basic purpose of making Zakat a compulsory charity is to purify a Muslim’s heart from all forms of greed and selfishness. The compulsory charity Zakat must be paid on different categories of property in which we have gold, silver, money, livestock, agricultural productions, and other business commodities. Zakat is payable each year after one year’s retention.

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity” (Tirmidhi). From this hadith, we can conclude that Allah Almighty will shade and shelter those who give charity and care for the needy people. The Muslim’s sacrifice in this life will be their protection on the Day of Judgment which will benefit them forever. Just like prayer (salah), which is both an individual and communal responsibility, zakat also expresses a Muslim’s worship of and thanksgiving to Almighty Allah by supporting those who are in need.

Zakat reminds us that everything we have belongs to Allah (SWT). People are given their wealth as a trust from Allah Almighty, and zakat is intended to free Muslims from the love of money. Islam teaches that people should acquire wealth with the intention of spending it on their own needs and the needs of others. Allah Almighty mentioned in the Quran: “Zakat expenditures are only for the poor and for the needy and for those employed to collect (zakat) and for bringing hearts together [for Islam] and for freeing captives [or slaves] and for those in debt and for the cause of Allah and for the (stranded) traveler – an obligation (imposed) by Allah . And Allah is Knowing and Wise.” (Quran, 9:60)

Other than zakat which obviously is the compulsory charity, the Quran and Hadith also stress on giving Sadaqah, or voluntary charity, which is proposed for the needy people of the society. In the Quran Allah almighty emphasizes feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, helping those who are in need. The more one helps, the more Allah Almighty helps the person, and the more one gives, the more Allah (SWT) gives the person in return. One feels he is taking care of others and Allah is taking care of him/her.

In short, zakat develops the sense of purification from greed, develops a circulation of money for the economy. It also encourages people to develop a better society that lives in peace and harmony. May Almighty Allah give us the strength to fulfill this obligation and following the right path so that we will be considered in true followers of Islam! Ameen.

Marriage in Islam with the Selection of Spouse

Marriage is a legal contract that enables each spouse to have enjoyment with the other. Marriage is an integral part of a Muslim’s life, indeed it is too important in our religion Islam that it is considered to be one half of one’s Faith. Marriage is the lawful and legitimate way to indulge in intimacy between a man and woman. Marriage is a great virtue and means of salvation in religion Islam. Marriage is a contract made by male and female to live together as wife and husband in order to strengthen their relationship. Allah Almighty mentioned in the Holy Quran: “And marry those among you who are single and (also marry) the Saliheen (pious) of your (male) slaves and maidservants.” (Quran, 24:32).

Marriage is an act of Sunnah. There are many Ahadith that instruct us to get married. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) himself got married and encouraged others to marry too. It is obligatory for whoever has the means to do so and a fear committing what is forbidden. It has been reported that the Holy Prophet (SAW) said: “O young men! Whoever among you can afford it, let him get married, for it is more effective in lowering the gaze and guarding chastity.” (Al-Bukhari 5065)

Marriage is a way to acquire spiritual perfection and also married people remain healthier physically and mentally. When a Muslim gets married he/she fulfills the religious obligation and duty. Through marriage fulfill the need of each spouse by the other, in order to maintain their chastity by satisfying natural sexual desires. It is an essential element in the proper and actual upbringing of children. Marriage safeguards from the sins of fornication, homosexuality, and masturbation.

Selection of Spouse

In order to get married the spouse selection should be based on basically religiousness in addition to this below, we are going to discuss some things that need to be considered while selecting a spouse.

  • The spouse should be pious with whom someone is getting married.
  • The spouse should be religious.
  • One should have a good nature. He/she should be patient during difficulties that may arise in married life.
  • The marrying partners should be compatible with each other.
  • The Messenger of Allah Holy Prophet (SAW) has given great emphasis on taking into consideration a good family background when someone intends to get married.
  • Though a spouse should be piety and religious but with that one should also consider the physical and mental health.

There should be love, respect, care, honesty, mercy, confidentiality, and selflessness in marriage if someone wants to live a happy married life. May Almighty Allah guide us to the right and make us capable to act upon His commands and to follow the Sunnah of His beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Ameen

Rights and Status of Teachers in Islam

Teaching is one of the most respectful and valuable professions in the world. In religion Islam, this profession has more importance as our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) introduced himself as a teacher. Allah Almighty says in Holy Quran: “Like (a favor which you have already received) in that We have sent among you a Messenger of your own, rehearsing to you Our verses, and purifying you, and instructing you in scripture and wisdom, and in new knowledge”(Quran, 2: 151). According to this verse of Holy Quran Holy Prophet (SAW) were sent to teach about the Holy Book Quran, the wisdom and unknown things to the people of this world.

As we all know that the person who teaches is a teacher, a man of obedience and respect. Teachers are some of the most influential people in society and have great importance in modern society. Teachers bear the responsibility of molding students’ personalities and educating them. Teachers are considered the most honored person in every religion. Due to the important role of teachers, Islam has granted high status and rights to teachers. Islam has paid great attention to teachers for their being the first brick in the structure of social development and perfection and the cause of guiding and developing behaviors and mentalities of individuals and communities. We can understand the highest rank of teachers from the Quote of Hazrat Ali (RA) in which He (RA) stated that: “If a person teaches me one single word, he has made me his servant for a lifetime. “

The teacher is considered the profound father in religion Islam. All Prophets were the teacher that sent before Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and obviously, Holy Prophet (PBUH) was also the great teacher for all mankind. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) teaches us how to worship Allah, how to implement teachings of the Quran in our daily lives and many other things. Islam lays great emphasis on knowledge. At numerous times and instances, Allah Almighty ordered the Muslims to acquire knowledge and learn. Islam lays so much stress on seeking knowledge and also on giving the respect to the ones who imparted knowledge. That’s why teachers have the highest status in Islam. In Holy Quran Almighty Allah says: “Allah elevates to high positions those from amongst you who are faithful and those who have acquired knowledge”. (Quran, 58:11)

Rights of Teachers

A teacher teaches the person so he has some rights some of them are mentioned below:

    • Lead his pupil means it’s the duty of the teacher to make his student smarter and have a good Akhlaq.
    • Get reward and appreciation. The teacher is the spiritual father of the student as he is the one who provides spiritual nourishment and improves the behavior of learners. That’s why we should appreciate teachers for their great work.
    • Teachers should have freedom of expression, obstacles and intervention should be cleared.
    • Teachers should get respect from other people. We need to respect the teacher who is willing to give us the knowledge.
    • Teachers should get good treatment to make his job easier.
    • Teachers should have freedom in giving judgment.
    • Teachers should acquire and utilize learning facilities and infrastructure.
    • Teachers should get physical and spiritual needs.

In short, we should know respect and become closer to the teacher who is willing to give us education and knowledge. Always respect your teacher.

Importance of Muslim Brotherhood in Quran and Sunnah

Islam is the religion of love, peace, and affection. Islam teaches the lesson of brotherhood between Muslims which we can say Muslim Brotherhood. This entire world is a brotherhood of Allah’s people whom His created. Muslim Brotherhood has great importance in Quran and Sunnah as our beloved Prophet (SAW) preached and practiced the lesson of the Muslim Brotherhood. Islam establishes brotherhood on basis of faith. The Prophet (SAW) said about brotherhood, “If a person loves his brother, he should inform him of this fact.” (Abu Dawud and Tirmidhi)

Muslim Brotherhood is the basis for a good Muslim society and making friends among Muslims opens the way toward better understanding and building a better Muslim Community. Muslim Brotherhood is not based on economic interests, race, or color. It is based on something infinitely superior that is Rejection of falsehood and acceptance of the Truth as revealed by the One True Lord Almighty Allah.

Brotherhood is not only based on faith, but it is also a part of that faith. The Prophet (SAW) said: “You cannot enter paradise unless you become a total believer and you won’t become a total believer unless you love each other.” Faith and community are inseparable in the faith community produced by Islam. Even an occasional reader of the Quran would note that it always addresses the Believers, not the Believer. All acts of worship that are declared pillars of Islam have a collective form shows the importance of the Muslim Brotherhood that one should get the benefit while doing with other Muslim brothers.

Those people who join in the worship of Allah produce a Muslim Brotherhood that demonstrates the best moral values of the faith. The believers are brothers in Religion just as Allah has described them in the Quran: “The believers are nothing else than brothers. So make reconciliation between your brothers, and fear Allah, that you may receive mercy” (Al-Hujurat, 10). The reason for their being described in this way is that they all share the same beliefs, work towards the same goals, and share the same code of behavior.

We will discuss in this article the importance of Muslim Brotherhood in light of Quran and Sunnah from which we can show how Muslims depends on each other and what Allah say in Quran about Muslim brotherhood and how Prophet (SAW) proved it practically.

    Muslim Brotherhood in Quran

Islam also teaches about brotherhood regarding the original parentage that is concerning to earthly origin all are descendants of the same pair of human being those are Adam and Eve. Allah Almighty says in the Quran: “O, mankind! Surely we have created you of a male and female and make you tribes and families that you know each other, surely the noblest among you unto Allah is one who fears him Behold! Allah is Knower Aware” [Quran, Al-Hujurat (49.13)]

Islam teaches that all mankind is but one family, as such all man and women are brothers and sisters. This verse also clarifies that the criteria for judgment in the eyes of Allah do not depend on caste, color, profession, gender or wealth, but on Taqwa, piety, and righteousness. Anyone who is righteous and pious is honored in the eyes of Allah.

Allah said in another verse of Holy Quran: “Hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. Remember the favor of Allah upon you, when you were enemies and he brought your hearts together and you became brothers by his favor.” (Quran, 3:103). This verse clearly states that we should stay united as Allah commanded in Quran because He made us brothers by creating love in our hearts.

The level of brotherhood involves purifying the heart of all enmity, hatred, and grudge for those who have faith, including for the righteous predecessors of Islam, those who believed in the previous prophets, and the general masses of believers throughout all of history. Allah says in the Quran: “They say: Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts any resentment toward those who have faith. Our Lord, you are kind and merciful.” (Quran, 59:10)

In another Verse of Holy Quran, Allah Almighty says: “And among His signs is the creation of heavens and earth, and the variations in your languages, and your colors, verily in that are the signs for those who know” (Quran, 30:22). No one is superior from another on the basis of language and color in the sight of Allah all men and women are equal and we also should consider all of Muslims as our brothers and sisters.

Muslim Brotherhood in the light of Sunnah

There are many hadiths relating to the fact that Muslim society is like a building, which bricks support each other. We can say that the Muslim Brotherhood is very necessary for a strong Muslim community if we united we can face and stand our enemies those who are against our religion Islam. We can save our Muslim brothers from enemies by helping them only if we establish untidiness and brotherhood. Our beloved Prophet (SAW) practically proved that brotherhood is very important for us (Muslim). The Ahadith confirm and extend the Quranic teachings on Islamic brotherhood.

Prophet (SAW) said: “The Muslims are like a single man. If the eye is afflicted, then the whole body is afflicted. If the head is afflicted, then the whole body is afflicted.”(Sahih Muslim) This means the believers should love for each other what they love for themselves. They avoid harming one another; they should generous with one another, and should behave in the best manner with each other.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: “He who relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, Allah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Judgment. He who makes easy what is difficult; Allah will make it easy for him in the world and the Hereafter. He who conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults in the world and the Hereafter, for Allah helps the servant as long as he helps his brother.” (Sahih Muslim) From this hadith we can conclude that by helping Muslim brother Allah will help the one who is helping in this world and the Hereafter. We should try to do behave in a way that mentioned above so that we can take blessings from Almighty Allah in this world and the Hereafter.

Aisha reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: “Verily, the believers with the most complete faith are those with the most excellent character and who are most kind to their families.” (Sunan Al Tirmidhi) from this hadith, we can conclude that If our families are Muslims, then they must also be afforded the rights of religious brotherhood.

In short, every person we meet will fall into one or more categories of brotherhood in Islam. As a Muslim, it is our duty to treat them well according to the rights for which they are entitled, whether they are family members or fellow human beings. We should promote brotherhood so that we can portray the true and best picture of the Islamic religion to the world so that non-Muslims would adopt this faith much more readily because they would see the fruits of this faith in its enthusiast. The feeling of brotherhood is mandatory for unity. May Allah help us to establish the true spirit of brotherhood by forgetting our so-called differences. And it is only possible if we act upon the teachings of the Holy Quran and Holy Prophet (SAW) especially in this regard.

    Sharia: Understanding Islamic Law

Sharia is an Islamic law. It is the religious legal system that conducts social, political and moral duties of believers or faithful Muslims. It is also known as “Lord’s law”. Sharia is derived from the Quran, the sacred book of Islam, which Muslims consider the actual words of Allah Almighty the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as reported in the Hadith. Sharia is not optional; it is prescribed for believers as mentioned in Holy Quran: “And We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming that which preceded it of the Scripture and as a criterion over it. So judge between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their inclinations away from what has come to you of the truth. To each of you, We prescribed a law and a method. Had Allah willed, He would have made you one nation [united in religion], but [He intended] to test you in what He has given you; so the race to [all that is] good. To Allah is your return all together and He will [then] inform you concerning that over which you used to differ” (Quran, 5:48)

During the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), He (PBUH) helped to clarify the law by interpreting provisions in the Quran and also acting as a judge in legal cases. Hence, Islamic law, the Sharia, became an important part of the Muslim’s religion, Islam. All of us being Muslims should follow the Islamic law, the sharia. In Holy Quran Allah (SWT) described in these words: “It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter, that they should [thereafter] have any choice about their affair. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly strayed into clear error” (Quran, 33:36)

Islamic Law r Sharia combines stability, flexibility, and firmness. The eventual objective of every Islamic legal prohibition is to secure the welfare of humanity in this world and the hereafter by establishing a righteous society. Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran: “We have sent our Messengers with clear signs and have sent down with them the book and the criterion so that man can establish justice. And we sent down iron of great strength and many benefits for man…” (Quran 57:25)

In another verse of Holy Quran Allah says about doing righteous deeds in these words: “God commands justice, righteousness, and spending on one’s relatives, and prohibits licentiousness, wrongdoing, and injustice…” (Quran 16:90). From the above verses of Holy Quran, we came to know about the Islamic legal prohibitions. These prohibitions are aimed at achieving human benefit; they can all be referred back to universal principles which are necessary for human ease. These universal principles include preservation of life, religion, lineage, property and other reasons.

Islam is a complete code of life, sent by Allah Almighty in the form of revelation by through Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Islam covers three essential needs of human life: physical, intellectual and spiritual. These three aspects of the faith are individually known as Islam (the divine law), Iman (belief), and Ihsan (Ethics and moral character). The first aspect, Islam, deals primarily with the physical aspects of the faith, such as its obligations, prohibitions and recommended actions. This is the part of the faith governed by Sharia the Islamic law. When the Prophet (SAW) taught Islam to his followers, He (PBUH) taught them all these three aspects at once, in a natural and holistic approach.

Mercy is the primary goal of Sharia the Islamic law. When society is informed by spiritual values, the purpose of Sharia, to bring out mercy to mankind, will be a natural demonstration of those values. Sharia makes life much easier for those who strive to live the correct life to please Allah Almighty. Sharia or Islamic law is founded on the principle that individuals rely on other individuals. An individual cannot carry out every aspect of Sharia by himself but needs other individuals that act as well, and from whose combined actions the society benefits as a whole. It is impossible for a person to reach perfection, but Islamic Sharia shows that one can reach perfection by their interactions with each other under the Sharia.

The overall objectives of Sharia are sometimes summarized under the following broad categories which are mentioned below:

    • For the establishment of Justice
    • Preventing oppression
    • Upholding morality both in public and private
    • Preventing hardships not only on an individual basis but also on a society level
    • Educating an individual

In an Islamic state, Sharia or Islamic law should implement and follow for the sake of Allah Almighty. These Islamic laws are for our benefits we should follow them and implement them in our lives for living a prosperous life in this world and hereafter.

Anger is the Disease of Soul - Powerful Tips to Avoid Anger

Anger is the temptation of Shaytaan and also a root of all evils; it can weaken the person’s faith. Anger is a natural feeling experienced by every person caused due to displeasure and annoyance. Despite the fact it is natural, anger can have serious consequences for us as well as the people around us. According to a narration by Abu Hurairah (RA) a man said to the Prophet (PBUH), “Advise me.” He replied, “Do not become angry”. The man repeated his request several times, and each time the Prophet (PBUH) told him, “Do not become angry” (Al-Bukhari).

Anger is a natural emotion that a person may express it in a manner that could result in violence and destructive acts. In the Holy Quran Allah Almighty says: “…Those who spend (freely) whether in prosperity or in adversity; who restrain their anger and pardon men; and Allah loves those who do good” (Quran, 3: 134). Allah loves those who control their anger and behave in well manners with other people.

We all should try to avoid anger as it is the disease of soul and our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) also disliked this act. We are living in the world which is full of pressures makes us suffer from anger every time and can easily enrage negative emotions around us. We need to find at least solutions to reduce our negative emotion because they can easily provoke anger.

Powerful Tips to Avoid Anger in Islam

Today in this article we are going to discuss some powerful tips recommended by the Quran and Sunnah, to control and avoid anger.

    • Anger is not the matter of power as stated in hadith: “The strong man is not the one who can wrestle, but it is the one who can control himself when he is angry.”(Bukhari)
    • While someone is in the state of anger he/she should seek refuge from Allah Almighty. There is hadith of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in which He (SAW) described that: If someone said “I seek refuge with Allah from the Shaytaan,” his/her anger would go away’. (Bukhari)
    • One should be calm and silent when get angry it is the best solution to avoid anger. It is extremely important to stay calm and be quiet because someone can lose control and can say those things which he/she regret later. Think about what you are about to do or say in anger. The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “If any of you becomes angry, let him keep silent”.
    • It is better to forgive others who hurt, offend, or harm us, rather than be in anger. Forgiving is miraculous. Those who are willing to forgive others will get the reward from Allah. It is mentioned in Holy Quran: “But [remember that an attempt at] requiting evil may, too, become an evil: hence, whoever pardons [his foe] and makes peace, his reward rests with God – for, verily, He does not love evildoers” (Quran 42:40).
    • Make wudu and change your position while you get angry. As stated in Hadith in these words: “If one of you got angry while standing then sits down, or if sitting down then lay down. If anger does not go away then do Wudu”. (Abu Dawood)
    • Before getting angry one should remember the effects of anger. As we all know that anger is like the poison it can destroy everything a man has built in minutes like marriages, brotherhood, and friendship. One should be aware of these effects and be very careful with one’s choices when in a state of anger.
    • One should try and avoid the angered person from thoughts that continue to anger them.

In short, Anger can destroy one’s relationships, health, and sustenance. These destructions caused because uncontrolled anger is from the Shaytaan and he uses it to wreck lives. Therefore we should be aware of the tricks of the devil, and control our anger. Allah Almighty promised for a greater reward for in this world and in the hereafter for controlling anger. May Allah Almighty give us the strength to follow the right path and practice Islam Ameen!

Basic Rights of Wives in Islam | According to Quran and Hadith

Islam is the complete code of life. According to Islam family makes up the society. The family is formed of man and woman and it is extended by producing children. After getting married it’s the responsibility of the husband to take care of his wife in all aspects. Every Muslim must realize that one’s spouse is first and foremost on another. It’s the duty of all Muslims that they should give respect to one another. Husband and wife have been greater rights upon each other because they have to live together.

Husband and wife should strive to make one another happy and take into consideration the needs, abilities, and weaknesses of the other. Our beloved Prophet (PBUH) advised the husbands to treat their wives in the best way. This is clear in the following hadith: “The best of you is the best of you to their family and I am the best of you to my family.”

In another hadith Holy Prophet (SAW) said: “I entreat you to treat women well for they have been created from a rib and the most crooked part of a rib is the upper part. If you insist on straightening it, you will break it. If you leave it, it will remain crooked. So, I entreat you to treat women well.” (Bukhari)

In Holy Quran, Allah Almighty says: “And of His signs are that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them, and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought” (Quran, 30:21). Below we will discuss some basic rights of wives upon her husband or you can say the duties of the husband for their wiv
    es.

    • To feed her, spend upon her in a way that Allah Almighty commanded in the Holy Quran. In one of the hadith Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: ‘Give charity.’ A man said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, I have a Dinar.’ He said: ‘Spend it on yourself.’ He said: ‘I have another.’ He said: ‘Spend it on your wife.’ He said: ‘I have another.’ He said: ‘Spend it on your son.’ He said: ‘I have another.’ He said: ‘Spend it on your servant.’ He said: ‘I have another.’ He said: ‘You know best (what to do with it).”‘ (Sunan an-Nasa’i)
    • Give dowry to wife. In Holy Quran Allah (SWT) says about the right of dowry in these words: “And give women their dowries as a gift. Then, if they are pleased to give some of it to you, consume it with good health and enjoyment.”( Quran, 4:4)
    • Support is one of the most important rights of the wife over her husband. Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran: “…And upon the father is the mother’s sustenance and her clothing according to what is reasonable. No person shall have a burden on him greater than he can bear…”(Quran, 2:233)
    • It’s the duty of the husband to be kind to her. Prophet (PBUH) said in one of His hadith: “The perfect man in his faith among the believers is the one whose behavior is most excellent, and the best of you are those who are the best to their wives.” (Tirmidhi)
    • A husband should not expose the secrets of his wife. The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “The wicked among the people in the eye of Allah on the Day of Judgment is the man who goes to his wife and she comes to him, and then he divulges her secret.” (Sahih Muslim)
    • The man must not curse or swear at his wife, or insult her appearance.
    • A man should not hate his wife. Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said: “A believer must not hate (his wife) believing woman; if he dislikes one of her characteristics he will be pleased with another”. (Muslim)

In short, it is proven that Islam gives women enough rights as a religion, it is then up to us, as men, to further their rights and help them attain the level of equality they deserve. May Allah Almighty give us the strength to live our lives according to Islamic teachings! Ameen.

Three levels of Faith | Islam, Iman, and Ihsan

Our religion is composed of three parts in which we have Islam, Iman, and Ihsan. We will discuss three of them in this article.

    Islam

As we discussed above that there are three levels of faith that a person can attain being a Muslim. The first level is Islam. A Muslim must be declared that there is no God but Allah and Muhammad (SAW) is the messenger of Allah (SWT). By declaring this a person accepts the message of Allah Almighty that is revealed to humanity through the last prophet Muhammad (SAW). After accepting Islam it is obligatory on Muslim to observe all other Islamic obligations like five daily prayers, Zakat, Fasting in Ramadan, make a pilgrimage (Hajj) of the house of Allah if he/she is capable of doing this physically and also financially. These are some obligatory things that a Muslim must follow after the proclamation of Islam. The rules of Islam come more easily to those who have prepared their hearts with Iman.

    Iman

Iman or faith is the first thing that we have to learn in our religion because it acts as our roots. Iman is basically to believe in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers and all the scriptures which He sent down before. As Allah Almighty said in Holy Quran: “O you who have believed, believe in Allah and His Messenger, (in) the Book that He sent down upon His Messenger, and the Scripture which He sent down before. And whoever disbelieves in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day has certainly gone far astray” (Quran, 4: 136)

So, a person reaching Iman believes that not only Allah exists but He is capable of doing anything He wants to do. A Mumen believes in everything Allah Almighty told in the Holy Quran. The belief in the Last Day which is the Judgment Day is an acknowledgment of accountability and estimation. It is an incentive for people to do good in this life in order to be rewarded in Paradise and a warning against doing badly in order to avoid punishment in the Hellfire.

The Prophet (SAW) said that Iman is, “To believe in Allah, His Angels, His Books, to believe in meeting Him, to believe in His Messengers, the Resurrection and the predestination” (Al-Bukhari). We can say that Iman is about inwardly actions.

    Ihsan

Ihsan is the highest status of religion Islam. Its definition that our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) described is: “To worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you do not see Him, He sees you.” The concept of Ihsan in Islam is also that a Muslim is a responsible person where he does things in a good manner. We can say that Ihsan means a Muhsen is sure that Allah is seeing him/her in everything he/she says or does in his life. So, a Muhsen does his best to say and do only what pleases Allah Almighty and conforms to His commands.

In the Holy Quran, Allah Almighty says: “Indeed, Allah commands justice, good conduct (Ihsan), and giving to relatives (and He) forbids immorality, bad conduct, and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded” (Quran, 16: 90).

In short, by living according to the concept of Ihsan and by applying it to all that a Muslim does, he/she will be rewarded and drench with mercy and forgiveness from Allah Almighty.

    Rights of Daughters in Islam

Daughters are the blessing of Allah Almighty. Before the advent of Islam, girls were treated very badly in Arab society. Father of a daughter used to feel shame when a girl born to him. Arab society used to bury girls alive in order to get rid of the shame. At the time of darkness when people used to treat girls very badly, Islam came and gave rights to women, sisters, daughters, wives and especially to little girls who were affected badly.

Allah Almighty says in the Noble Quran: “To Allah belong the dominion of the heavens and the earth; He creates what He wills. He gives to whom He wills female [children], and He gives to whom He wills males. Or He makes them [both] males and females, and He renders whom He wills barren. Indeed, He is Knowing and Competent” (Quran, 49:50). This Ayah of the Holy Quran shows that Allah Almighty has the right or will to give whatever He wants to whom He wants to give. Allah is the One, based on His ultimate wisdom, who grants whomever He wills sons and daughters. He grants sons only to whomever He wills and daughters only to whomever He wills.

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) had 4 daughters and was of the opinion that raising daughters were considered as sacred in Islam. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said in one of His hadith about the upbringing of daughters in these words: “If someone has three daughters and is patient with them and clothes them from his wealth, they will be a shield against Fire for him.”

    Rights and Duties of Daughters

Islam came into being and granted rights to women as a daughter, sister, and wife. Islam also created some responsibilities for them which are mentioned below:

    • Islam gave equal rights to women as men and describe that there is no discrimination against them.
    • Islam gave them rights of education. They can get an education just like men and can also work for their family.
    • They have the right to their father’s property. Her share is half of her brother’s share in the property.
    • She has a right of Khula if she is not satisfied with her marriage and husband.
    • Islam gave them the right to receive love and best maintenance from parents, brother, and husband.
    • A daughter always belongs to the paternal family. Marriage does not break this bond. The Islamic social order makes detailed arrangements for fair treatment of the daughter.
    • Taking care of them, educating them, liberating them and training them for tomorrow and a better life all comes under the responsibility of parents to their daughters.
    • They have the right to choose her husband. The father is not allowed to oblige her to marry a certain person without her wish.
    • Islam gave her the right to speak and express her views and ideas in front of the public.
    • Anas (RA) reported that the Prophet (SAW) said: “He who raises two daughters until their puberty will be with me in Paradise like this” and he symbolized the proximity by showing two of his fingers with a slight gap between them.” (Muslim)
    • Daughter has a responsibility or duty to cover herself properly to live safely in the society.
    • She has a duty to keep the dignity of herself.
    • She has to take care of her family.
    • She has to loyal to her husband after getting married.
    • She has to be in limits when it’s a matter of Na-mahram.

These were some rights and duties of daughters according to religion Islam that every Muslim should know and fulfill. If someone wants to know about the honor of daughters then it is enough of an honor for girls that the Prophets (SAW), had daughters and that most of the children of our beloved Prophet (SAW) were daughters. So when you have a daughter don’t get upset instead be happy and celebrate this joy with all your family members and friends as daughters are the blessing of Allah Almighty. May Allah protect all our daughters and sister and blessed them with all the happiness of the world. Ameen!

Five Pillars of Islam - Social Importance and Benefits

Islamic structure has a solid foundation just like every sound structure have a solid foundation in order to remain strong. Islam’s solid foundation is the five pillars, forming the basis of Islamic teaching as taught by Prophet Muhammad (SAW). The Five Pillars of Islam are the five obligations that every Muslim must satisfy in order to live a great and responsible life according to Islam.

The Five Pillars of Islam enclose the basic moral obligations for Muslims which we all should follow and act upon them. Those who inspect the basics of Islam are usually told about the “Five Pillars” of the religion Islam. These five pillars of Islam have the great impact on Muslim’s life.

    1. Islam is built upon the Five Pillars of Islam which are as follows:
    2. The Declaration of Faith (Shahadah)
    3. Salah (Establishing regular Prayers)
    4. Zakat (Paying charity)
    5. Sawm (Fasting in the month of Ramadan)
    6. Hajj

Now we will discuss these five pillars of Islam in detail about their importance, benefits and how they affect the Muslim’s life.

    (1)

    • Shahadah: The first pillar of Islam is the confession of faith; there is no God but Allah and Muhammad (SAW) is His last Prophet. Under this pillar, all other obligations are incorporated, for to believe in Allah and Muhammad (SAW) as His Prophet is to obey their teachings and the example of Muhammad’s life. We can also say that sincerely reciting the Muslim undertaking of faith is Shahadah. It must be based on a sincere and firm belief from the heart, as well as being expressed verbally. The declaration of the first pillar has two parts; the first part of the declaration signifies that no person, object or vitality has the right to be worshipped except Allah alone. Allah alone has the power over all things because He is the only Creator and Sustainer of all that exists in this world. Allah has no partner without any doubt. The second part of the declaration is that Muhammad (SAW) is Allah’s final Messenger. He is the last and final Prophet in a long chain of Prophets sent to call the people to the obedience and worship of Allah alone.
One will become a true Muslim only if he/she will utter Shahadah and also accept it by heart.

      (2)

      • Salah: The second pillar is prayer (Salah). Muslims are expected to engage in prayer five times a day, facing Mecca. Prayer provides a pattern of Muslim life. Muslims hope to please Allah by remembering him constantly by offering prayer regularly. Salah is basically performing practice prayers in a proper way five times daily. In Quran Allah Almighty says: “Indeed, I am Allah! There is none worthy of worship but I, so worship Me and offer the prayer for My remembrance” (Quran 20:14). Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “Prayer is a pillar of the religion (Islam). Whoever establishes it, establishes a religion; and whoever destroys it (neglects it), destroys religion.” So we can say it is obligatory on every Muslim to offer prayer five times a day for the sake of Almighty Allah and also if you want to complete your faith. After Shahadah, it is the most important pillar of Islam.

        Benefits of Salah

        • Prayer establishes a personal and spiritual connection between the Muslim and his Creator based on faith and love
        • It will have an enduring effect on the person, filling his heart with contentment, peace, and closeness with Allah
        • Through prayer, Muslim remembers the greatness of his Creator and supplicates to Him for his needs and wishes
        • Repeatedly humbling oneself before Allah prevents a person from falling into sin
        • Salah is the type of purification for one’s soul
        • Salah is an opportunity for repentance and seeking forgiveness from Allah

When Salah is performed correctly with complete concentration, humility, and sincerity, it will have an enduring effect on the person, filling his heart with contentment, peace, and closeness with Allah. We should pray five times a day if we want to close to Allah and should make Dua in front of Him for anything for any cause He will absolutely listen and fulfill.

      (3)

      • Zakat: Zakat is paying an alms (or charity) to benefit the poor and the needy people for the sake of Almighty Allah. The meaning of the word “Zakat”, is both ‘purification’ and ‘growth’. Muslims are required to give at least 2.5 percent of their annual capital to the poor, either directly or through Muslim charitable organizations. Giving to the poor is intended to achieve a generous lifestyle and a sense of caring for the Muslim community, especially those lacking physical and financial means. We as a Muslim believe that if we give poor or needy people from our income and wealth then we will become trustworthy to Almighty Allah. As Allah (SWT) mentioned in Holy Quran: “Those who establish the prayer (Salah) and give the charity (Zakat) these are the ones who will prosper” (Quran, 31:4-5). The Prophet (PBUH) said: “Allah has made Zakat obligatory simply to purify your remaining wealth.” By fulfilling this obligation, Muslims purify their remaining wealth, as well as ensure both financial and spiritual growth.

      Benefits of Paying Zakat

      • Purify one’s heart from greediness, selfishness, and arrogance
      • Made people be sympathetic and compassionate towards needy and poor
      • Reminds blessings of Allah and encourage to be grateful to Almighty Allah
      • Reduce poverty from society and balance the gap between different socio-economic classes and groups.

If someone wants to give more than specified that is 2.5 percent then he can give if he has a will to do more for needy people for pleasing Almighty Allah.

      (4)
      • Sawm: Sawm is fasting during the month of Ramadan for Almighty Allah because it is the Holy month of Allah. Fasting involves refraining from such things as food, tobacco, and sexual relations during daylight hours. One should also abstain from all sinful actions. These periods of fasting are to encourage and enable Muslims to develop self-control, to oppress bad habits, and to refocus their minds towards personal spiritual progress. Allah Almighty said in the Holy Quran:”Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may attain piety” (Quran, 2:183). As with any act of worship, fasting requires obedience and submission to Allah’s commands through the highest degree of commitment and sincerity. Fasting during Ramadan is obligatory on every physically and mentally capable adult Muslim. Children, the sick, the mentally unfit, the elderly, menstruating women, and travelers are privileged.

      Benefits of Fasting

      • Promotes self-purification and spiritual growth
      • Fasting has health benefits it is proven scientifically
      • Forgiveness of sins
      • Purifies the soul and helps it acquire obeying Almighty Allah by restraining desires, and promotes steadfastness
      • Create awareness about the state of affairs across the globe and the hardships encounter
      • Fasting is a mean of learning self-restraint and patience

      (5)

      • Hajj: The fifth pillar is Pilgrimage. All Muslims are expected to make a pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in their lifetime if their finances and health grant. During the pilgrimage, Muslims dress in white garments and remove all indicators of status or class. This practice is intended to help Muslims recognize that before Allah they are all equal. Racial, gender and economic differences are subdued as commonalty of Muslims from many nations bow together to worship Allah. Performing the pilgrimage is a temporary suspension of all worldly activities, and is a time for one to reflect, worship, seek the forgiveness of Allah and attain His closeness. In Holy Quran Allah (SWT) says: “And Hajj (pilgrimage to Makah) to the House (Kabah) is a duty that mankind owes to Allah, for those who can afford the expenses (for one’s transportation, provision, and residence)” (Quran, 3:97). This great act of worship consists of many components including sacrificing an animal, supplicating, visiting and praying at various sites, circling the Kabah, walking between two mountains, as well as many other rituals, all of which are performed over a period of 6 continuous days. During Hajj Brotherhood is increased, as is the sense that all Muslims, regardless of their differences, are one nation.

The five pillars of Islam have been prescribed by Allah, and a Muslim is required to believe and act according to them. They are practical as well as easy, and the blessings and wisdom behind them are multiple. Carrying out the Five Pillars demonstrates that the Muslims are putting their faith first, and not just trying to fit it in around their worldly lives. These five pillars provide the solid structure for the betterment and success of all humanity. It’s obligatory on us (Muslims) to practice these in our lives for getting benefits in this life and the Hereafter.

Why do Muslims go to the Mecca? Is there something inside the Hajj?

Why do Muslims go to the Mecca

Why do Muslims go to the Mecca? Is there something inside the Hajj?

It's because they revive the sunnah(way of or teaching of)Mohammad(PBUH) and the command of Allah .

Millions of muslims every year performs Hajj. Why Hajj?

We Muslims feel honoured and proud to be the slaves of Allaah, the One, the Self-Sufficient Master, Who begets not nor was He begotten, and there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him; He is our Lord and we have no Lord besides Him. Hence we respond to the commands of our Lord with the utmost humility and submit to His commands.

If a Muslim does Hajj in the manner required by his Lord, then Allaah has promised to forgive him his sins and admit him to Paradise, on condition that he does not spoil this action by committing any major action that would invalidate it and earn the anger of Allaah.

Ther are innumerable reasons for muslims to perform hajj having both spiritual benefits as well as fulfillment of Allah's command.

Perhaps in no other spiritual or religious event is unity this more evident than in the Hajj in Mecca, during which millions of Muslims set aside all differences of race, caste, economic status, nationality, and even sect as they unite in the holy pilgrimage, each donning the simple two-piece white garb of the non-attached traveler, allowing nearly no apparent difference whatsoever between men as they stand together in the Divine Presence of their Creator.

During the Hajj in Mecca, Muslims honor the Holy Ka’ba originally built by Adam (as) as the first House of God when he awakened upon the earth, rebuilt by Abraham and Ishmael (as)centuries later, and finally purified by the Prophet Muhammad (saws) in the seventh century of the idolatry that had desecrated it.

During the Hajj in Mecca, one cannot but be reminded of the life beyond, the life eternal, when the world and all it contains has fallen away, and all that matters is the eternal destiny of the human soul, continually maintain focus on Eternity, on the Divine Presence of God, rather than allowing yourself to become overtaken by dunya, the world of form and appearances that continually seeks to distract us and lead us into heedlessness, unconsciousness and loss of purpose. Use the Five Daily Prayers as an opportunity to continually reaffirm your focus and direction in life. Tune in to the power of the present moment.

Finally, Muslims go to the Mecca for hajj to realize our true divine destiny and purpose, to become what God Almighty created humanity for — awakened and enlightened spiritual deputies of the One, perfected servants in creation, open, clear, transparent, purified of selfishness, living exemplars of goodness, beauty, light, compassion and love.

The ‘Heart of Islam’ beckons tourists from all over the world

The ‘Heart of Islam’ beckons tourists from all over the world

The ‘Heart of Islam’ beckons tourists from all over the world

THE Saudi ‘Vision 2030’ is based on three pillars, of which the first one is the Kingdom’s status as the heart of the Arab and Islamic world. While unveiling the Vision, Deputy Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, second deputy premier and minister of defense, emphasized that the Kingdom will do its utmost to ensure that Muslims from around the world can visit the Holy Sites. “We recognize that Allah the Almighty has bestowed on our land a gift more precious than oil. Our Kingdom is the Land of the Two Holy Mosques, the most sacred sites on earth, and the direction of the Kaaba (Qibla) to which more than a billion Muslims turn at prayer,” he said while asserting “Our vision is a tolerant country with Islam as its constitution and moderation as its method.”

Underlining the essence of the Vision 2030, the Deputy Crown Prince said: “Our nation is the core of the Arab and Islamic worlds and represents the heart of Islam. We are confident that, God willing, we will build a brighter future, one based on the bedrock of Islamic principles. We will continue to excel in performing our duties towards pilgrims to the fullest and promote our deep-rooted national identity.”

The principles of Islam will be the driving force for the Kingdom to realize its great Vision. The values of moderation, tolerance, excellence, discipline, equity, and transparency will be the bedrock of its success. In this scenario, religious tourism attains top priority in the Vision 2030 as the Kingdom has the privilege to serve the Two Holy Mosques, the pilgrims and all visitors to the blessed holy sites. In serving Umrah pilgrims, Saudi Arabia has assumed a prominent place in the world and has become synonymous with hospitality and a warm welcome to all Muslims.

In the last decade, the number of Umrah visitors entering the country from abroad has tripled, reaching eight million people. The Vision envisages enriching pilgrims’ spiritual journeys and cultural experiences while in the Kingdom. The Kingdom’s priorities in the Vision with regard to attracting religious tourists include setting up of more world-class museums, preparing new tourist and historical sites and cultural venues, and improving the pilgrimage experience within the Kingdom in its capacity as a treasure trove of Islamic heritage, and historical sites. The Vision aims to increase the Kingdom’s capacity to welcome 30 million Umrah pilgrims in place of the current annual figure of 8 million.

The highlight of religious tourism in the Vision will be augmented by the ambitious initiative of Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH). Prince Sultan Bin Salman, president of SCTH, recently said that the Post Umrah Program is a key part of ‘The Kingdom is destination of Muslims’ initiative. He said the program aims at enabling Umrah performers to see the country’s landmarks, historical sites, tourist attractions and shopping centers. They might also opt to make cultural, medical, educational and shopping tours, visit exhibitions and attend conferences after having completed Umrah, he said. “We want to link a Muslim to his roots — religiously, culturally and emotionally,” he said, adding, that it is never just an economic or financial project. He cited the procedure of automatic conversion of an Umrah visa to a tourist one, which was once subject to discussion with several agencies. Non-Umrah visa holders could also avail themselves of the opportunity to join the Post Umrah Program.

Khaled Almaeena, Saudi Gazette’s Editor at Large and managing partner of QUARTZ Communications, said that the Vision can turn into reality with its implementation takes its course at the hands of qualified and right people.
Pilgrims from all over the world have to get a chance to see the vast treasure of ancient Islamic historic and heritage sites across the Kingdom.
The Vision will be a golden opportunity to project and display the richness of Islamic culture and heritage of Saudi Arabia in front of the Muslims from every nook and corner of the world. “It is unfortunate that many historic and heritage sites have been removed. However, the serious efforts being made by SCTH to preserve the remaining ones are extremely commendable. Apart from highlighting the cultural treasures, the Vision will also provide an added economic value for the Kingdom, which is keen on reducing the dependence on oil and diversifying its sources of revenue.”

MadinahOn his part, Dr. Siddeek Ahmed, chairman and managing director of Eram Group & ITL World, congratulated the great visionaries of the Kingdom for formulating the Vision 2030, since it would be beneficial not only for the Saudi citizens but also to the expatriates as well. He specially thanked Deputy Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, the architect of the Vision and the National Transformation Program (NTP). “In my humble point of view, change is inevitable in every 15 to 20 years in all sectors. The proper understanding of the real pulse of the people and economy plays a key role while formulating the concept of revamping. Focusing on non oil revenue is highly recommended and a special thrust on post Umrah tourism is indeed a very good idea,” he said while underscoring that the blend of traditional values with a modern and global outlook is ideal for the Kingdom’s tourism.
Ahmed also stressed the need to create awareness globally about the Kingdom’s Islamic archeological treasures and rich tradition, most of which are among the unexplored areas. The proposed World’s best Islamic museum in Riyadh is significant in this respect. “Saudi Arabia’s road, rail and air connectivity are a big plus point. The tourism expense such as transportation, recreation, food & beverage, restaurants and hotels is minimum compared to other tourism destinations in Middle East, which is an added value for the Kingdom’s religious tourism sector.

Ahmed noted that Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University is the largest university for women in the world, and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) boasts of having the fastest growing research and citation records in the world, which are unaware to most of the world unfortunately. Educational voyage, MICE and Experience Saudi are the other areas, which can give importance in regard to tourism sector. Also sports tourism is another area, which Kingdom can focus.

In the implementation stage, consulting and opinion gathering with the other stakeholders like tourism operators and travel agents are very important to understand the real pulse of the foreign travelers. Conducting seminars even in other countries through Saudi embassies are also needed to create awareness. Ahmed suggested of appointing an official spokesman for the Pilgrim tourism updates. Authorized travel agents can also propagate with the marketing collaterals to their customers, he said. “No doubt Saudi Arabia is the world Muslims’ destination besides its role as a peace maker. Being an owner of a travel management company I extend my wholehearted support to the country which gave me all good blessings,” he added.

Mohammed Alungal, president of Al-Abeer Group, congratulated Deputy Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman for his bold and excellent initiative to come out with the Vision 2030, which will bring about remarkable positive changes in all spheres of Saudi life, benefitting both Saudis and expatriates. “The Vision’s thrust on tapping full potential of religious tourism will be a great service to the Islamic Ummah as a whole. Pilgrims from various parts of the world can benefit from the positive merits of tourism in the Kingdom unlike many other Muslim countries. Muslim tourists who prefer destinations such as Dubai are not in a position to enjoy this religious aspect of tourism,” he said while emphasizing that the Vision will unearth the huge non-oil economic potential of Saudi Arabia, which sits on the world’s largest oil reserve. Alungal sees bright future for health and medical tourism in the Kingdom. He also called for a thrust in the higher education sector and opening of off campuses of world-class universities. “The proposed Green Card will be a boost for many expatriate investors to pump their investments into the Kingdom’s vital sectors,” he said adding that he wants to grab the Green Card whenever it started issuing for the expatriates.

Khalid Al-Dabbagh, who served at Saudi Aramco and Royal Commission in Yanbu for more than three decades, said that the Vision 2030 has been instrumental in shifting the priorities of Saudi people who hitherto had the assumption that oil is everything in their life. Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest oil producer and exporter, is now going to sell part of its stake so as to ensure the Saudi citizens’ participation, besides ensuring more transparency in its overall functioning, and of course, it is a fabulous initiative, Al-Dabbagh said. The entire Saudi nation appreciates the bold initiative of Deputy Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman for presenting this excellent blueprint. “The Vision is now the talk of the entire nation, and everywhere — on streets, markets, offices, city squares, as well as on television and social media — the Vision is the hot topic of discourse,” he said noting that Saudis in all corners of the globe also talking about the prospect of a shining future of the Kingdom, to be brought about by the Vision 2030. “Now we are preparing ourselves to take up Vision 2030, besides preparing our kids to embrace it.” According to Al-Dabbagh, Muslims all over the world would be the beneficiaries of this great initiative. “The pilgrims from all over the world can benefit from the benefits of religious tourism and post Umrah program. It shows the visitors what the birthplace of Islam keeps in its trove for them.
